Full Text of JOE Listing:

NBER’s Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program on Gender in the Economy, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is offering three dissertation fellowships for doctoral students in economics. Topics may include victimization and violence against women, household finance, women’s roles in health and education, gender and the labor market, economic development and female labor force participation, and women- and child-centered policies. Research may focus on developing and/or developed countries.

Each fellowship offers a $27,000 stipend for academic year 2021-2022, $3,000 for research support such as travel expenses, and tuition support of up to $13,000 for the academic year. Fellows will be expected to participate in the June 2021 meeting of the NBER Gender in the Economy Study Group.

To be eligible for fellowship support, applicants must be enrolled as full-time PhD students at US or Canadian universities for the 2021/2022 academic year. Fellows will be selected based on their potential to make important contributions to the study of gender issues in the economies of developing and/or developed countries.
