University of California San Diego is seeking applications for two to three post-doctoral fellows (2-3 year appointment) who aspire to become independent academic researchers in the areas of health economics and health policy research on drug use and abuse.
Position Description: The fellows will work closely with Dr. Yuyan Shi on multiple projects that 1) evaluate the impacts of drug policies, 2) examine neighborhood retail environments, and 3) conduct behavioral economics experiments to understand individual responses to marketing and product variations. Drugs of interest include marijuana, tobacco, opioids, and other licit and illicit ones. The fellows will also have opportunities to work with other inter-disciplinary researchers in the larger network of public health.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a doctoral degree in public health or social science (health economics, health policy, behavioral economics, health services, or other related fields). The ideal candidates should have strong quantitative skills of analyzing large-scale population surveys and administrative records. Strong writing and communication skills are expected. Experience in drug abuse research is preferred.
