The PDP Education Centre in Musashi University, Tokyo, Japan invites applications for a fixed-term position, beginning September 1, 2021 (negotiable). The PDP Education Centre plans and governs the parallel degree programme (PDP) between the University of London (UoL) and Musashi University, in which students seek dual degrees from UoL and Musashi university. The position requires an individual to teach undergraduate courses in English including Economics for the International Foundation Programme. Candidates from all fields of economics will be considered and those with teaching experience and a good research record/potential are strongly encouraged to apply. Musashi University is planning to launch a new school, the International School of Liberal Arts and Sciences [provisional name], beginning April 2022, and the successful candidate is expected to be transferred to the Economics and Management Program of the new school.

Teaching: The candidate is responsible for teaching courses worth 20 course credits per year (7.5 contact hours per week), including the following University of London (UoL) course units:

Research: The candidate should be able to conduct research on their initiative. The university provides research facilities such as office space and library access, as well as a generous research fund (JPY 400,000 per year).

Service: The successful candidate is expected to contribute enthusiastically to the provision of services related to the UoL/Musashi PDP. Some participation in university-wide general administration and program development activities is also required.

[Period of Employment]
The term is fixed at three years but may be renewed for a further one or two years. The successful candidate is expected to be available to work full-time from September 1, 2021 (negotiable).

[Qualifications]
(1) Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. program in economics (including those who expect to finish by March or May 2021).
(2) Applicants must have a command of English sufficient to teach undergraduate courses in English. While we do not require candidates to have Japanese language skills, intercultural communicative competence necessary to carry out their responsibilities effectively in a Japanese university environment is desirable.
