Afiniti applies machine learning to efficiently pair customers with company representatives. As a member of our R&D team, you’ll develop modeling, simulation, and validation tools to support our broader data science team. The role can involve assisting with particularly tricky client models or developing new strategies to address complicated metrics and routing rules. You’ll work hand-in-hand with software engineers to develop our real-time pairing system and modeling tools, writing a substantial amount of code yourself.

Requirements:
-Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of statistical modeling, optimization, and simulating complex systems.
-Ability to manage time independently within a geographically distributed team and to contribute to the development of new initiatives.
-Ability to document and explain cutting-edge techniques to other team members.
-Experience with at least one language for data analysis such as Python, Julia, or R.
-Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and version control in git.

Pluses:
-Project management or leadership experience.
-Software development experience, particularly C++ or Julia.
-Experience with casual inference for heterogeneous treatment effects.
-Bayesian modeling with Stan or other MCMC packages, variational Bayes, or empirical Bayes techniques for large datasets.
-Experience with linear programming, dynamic programming, control theory, reinforcement learning, or bandit algorithms.
