Tulane University, one of the nation’s most prestigious research institutions, seeks a visionary leader and innovator to serve as Director of the Murphy Institute. As one of the leading academic and research units of its kind in the country, the Murphy Institute is home to faculty, students, and scholars from a variety of disciplines who are grappling with the fundamental economic, moral, and political problems of our time. Established in 1980, the mission of the Murphy Institute is to educate students; to support and advance the finest applied research in public policy, public affairs, civic engagement; and to inspire and inform all of its constituencies through its programs, scholarship, instruction, and events with the objective of advancing human prosperity and well-being. Well-known for its stellar undergraduate program in political economy, the Institute is also home to the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs, and the Center for Public Policy Research. Tulane seeks a Director who will harness the Institute’s distinguished history to create a vision and way forward for the Institute that maintains its core mission while keeping pace with the needs of an evolving, world-class University, city, and globe.
