The Willamette University Economics Department invites applications for a full-time, visiting position for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. This is a one year appointment with the possibility for renewal. The teaching load is 6 courses per year.

The department offers an undergraduate curriculum that embodies a pluralist approach to economics, beginning with the introductory course where we utilize E.K. Hunt’s History of Economic Thought: A critical perspective. Teaching responsibilities will include contributing to the core of this curriculum at the introductory level and, potentially, at the intermediate theory level where a pluralist approach is again taken. Willingness to offer courses that meet or expand our elective offerings and that promote our commitment to critically examining multiple economic perspectives is particularly welcome.

We look for candidates with training in history of thought and/or heterodox approaches. A completed Ph.D. by August 2020 and some teaching experience strongly preferred. Advanced ABD will be considered.

Application Instructions: Please submit a letter that speaks to your interest in and capacity to teach multiple economic traditions, as well as your commitment to teaching excellence within a liberal arts setting. Applications also must include a curriculum vita, statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of teaching effectiveness, a graduate transcript, and two letters of reference.
