Scott L. Probasco Chair of Free Enterprise

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites nominations and applications of individuals for the Scott L. Probasco Chair of Free Enterprise. Housed in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, the Probasco Chair of Free Enterprise is among the largest endowed chairs of free enterprise in the nation. The endowment supports the activities of the chair holder, the Center for Economic Education, and a dedicated administrative staff. The mission of the Chair is to study the American free enterprise system and the conditions under which it operates most efficiently, engage in high-level scholarly research, and contribute to the public knowledge and understanding of economic theory and practice.

The Probasco Chair will also direct the Center for Economic Education. The Center’s mission is to support economic education in the public realm for students, educators, and business and professional groups.
The Probasco Chair will serve as a tenured faculty member at the rank of full professor in the Department of Finance and Economics in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business and through the activities outlined above support the mission of the department and the college. The Probasco Chair will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in economics.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an established national and international reputation in the field of economics with outstanding scholarly ability and an excellent publication record. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders and the business community and have experience in grant writing and directing an academic center with outreach activities. Candidates must hold a doctorate in economics or a related field.
