As a part of an interdisciplinary Transformative Excellence Program, the University of Utah is seeking applicants for a tenure track or tenured faculty position (open rank) related to health policy and health economics. Faculty hired into this program are expected to contribute and to strengthen the consortium of scholars from across the university who are committed to understanding and to transforming health care policy, finance and delivery in an era of evolving demographic, technological and regulatory environments.

About the University of Utah School of Medicine and the Department of Population Health Sciences
The University of Utah School of Medicine combines excellence in teaching, research, and clinical expertise to train tomorrow's physicians for the rapidly changing world of medicine. With a faculty of more than 1,000 physicians and researchers and 22 clinical and basic science departments, the School of Medicine is widely recognized for interdisciplinary research in the genetics of disease, cancer, biomedical informatics, infectious diseases, and other areas of leading-edge medicine.
Consisting of 23 full-time faculty members, the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) at the University of Utah School of Medicine drives health care transformation and aims to be a hub for education, investigation, and expertise in health services, cost, quality, outcomes, and health delivery systems research. The department provides methodological expertise and infrastructure that advances capacity for population health scientists to pursue impact-driven research and allow clinical professionals to provide better patient and population-oriented care in an increasingly complex health care delivery system.

Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or equivalent in economics, public health, health services research, population health sciences, business, public policy or related areas
• An excellent and sustained record of independent scholarship
• Record or strong promise of extramural funding commensurate with rank
• Strong communication skills and engagement with diverse audiences
• Success in leading and/or participating in multi-disciplinary, multi-sector teams
• Teaching experience in relevant areas
• Demonstrated record of mentorship of students and faculty
• Experience in the study of the social determinants of health and health outcomes
• Expertise with Stata, SAS, R, and/or Python software packages
• Expertise in the analysis of large-scale health-related databases
