Dynamic and vibrant Durham University Business School is one of Durham University’s four Faculties and is comprised of three Departments: Management and Marketing, Accounting, and Economics and Finance. The School aims to be a Top 20 European Business School, known for its global reputation, its impact on practice and its strong focus on ethics, responsibility and sustainability. With highly-ranked Online and Full Time MBA programmes – 9th and 43rd globally accreditations from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS and professional endorsement by the Chartered institutes of Personnel Development and Marketing and the NHS Leadership Academy, the school’s vision is to lead business thought and practice to improve global wealth and well-being. The School currently has 160 academic and teaching staff, with plans and resource commitments to grow to 230 by 2027. We seek to appoint an Assistant Professor in Finance, with the goal of developing our expertise in the areas of asset pricing, corporate finance, banking, portfolio theory, behavioural finance, household finance, econometric analysis of Big Data and high-frequency finance, and application of machine learning to financial markets. The applicants will be expected to demonstrate excellence in research, the ability to teach our students to an exceptional standard, and willingness to engage in the citizenship services for the department, the university, and the profession. We support our academic colleagues in publishing research in world-class journals, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Our support for research includes including resources for national and international conference travel, seedcorn funding of research activity, a generous research leave policy, and a designated mentor. We also provide support for developing teaching skills and expertise and for engaging in innovative teaching and learning technologies aimed at continuous improvement of our teaching environment.
