Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Office of the Investor Advocate (OIAD) at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is looking to fill one or more full Economist and Social Scientist positions to help with its recently launched POSITIER investor testing and household finance research initiative. POSITIER (Policy Oriented Stakeholder and Investor Testing for Innovative and Effective Regulation) is an exciting new research initiative designed to generate policy and academic research and provide tools and evidence to improve policymaking at the SEC.

We are looking to build out a strong household finance research department. Through POSITIER, OIAD has a diverse and powerful arsenal of research tools to flexibly deploy. OIAD principally conducts experiments (field, lab, survey), measurement-focused surveys, research projects using existing administrative and survey datasets, and qualitative research on a broad range of household finance issues. The focus is on high-quality academic and policy research to inform policymaking. The work is inherently interdisciplinary, typically building on literature in behavioral economics and cognitive science.

Those with an interest in household finance, behavioral economics, law and economics, labor, experiments, and survey methodology are strongly encouraged to apply.

For individuals interested in speaking with OIAD representatives at the ASSA meetings, please send materials no later than December 6, 2019.
