The Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions. Areas of interest include macroeconomics, financial econometrics, labor, health, environmental, and agricultural economics. Candidates should have an interest in China policy-relevant research.

The IAR was established in 2006 through the “economics innovation platform” from China’s Ministries of Education and Finance. Its mission is to produce cutting-edge research and forge a strong link among academia, government and industry around China economic issues. Its faculty combines high-profile adjunct oversea professors and active junior professors hired from renowned universities. The IAR has consistently contributed to China’s government policy making and implementation with its unique research strength in macroeconomic analysis and forecasts, market mechanism design, and applied microeconometrics.

Successful candidates are expected to conduct and publish high-quality research and to actively contribute to our policy-oriented analysis projects.

Compensation package includes competitive salary, research funds, housing allowances, plus standard fringe benefits. For distinguished professors, we offer highly competitive compensation above market level. Appointees must possess Ph.D. by July 2020. Candidates with great potential or well-established credentials will be considered. We will conduct interviews at AEA annual meeting in San Diego.
