The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates two openings for junior or senior Research Economists in the Compensation Research and Program Development Group. Duties are equally divided between (1) self-directed research, and (2) activities that enhance the quality and usefulness of BLS programs and data. Self-directed research activities include being active within the academic community by presenting at conferences, publishing in peer-reviewed journals and participating in internal seminars. BLS activities include research to strengthen and improve measurement concepts and techniques of BLS products in the areas of wages, benefits, occupational requirements, and working conditions. Applicants should have a PhD or expect one by September 2020.
