The Ohio Department of Taxation is responsible for the administration of individual and business taxes across the state. We emphasize a customer-focused approach to tax administration through courtesy, accuracy, responsiveness, and equitability in each interaction with Ohio taxpayers. The Ohio Department of Taxation’s Tax Analysis Division
is seeking one (1) Tax Analyst to join their team.

A Tax Analyst acts as a tax forecaster in order to analyze proposed legislation (e.g., new tax types, alterations to existing
tax types, elimination or deletions of tax types) to determine revenue impacts for the legislature, General
Assembly, Governor and Legislative Services Commission. Additionally, the Tax Analyst forecasts total future state tax revenues in association with the Office of Budget & Management to determine funding for departments & agencies on a statewide, agency wide basis involving multiple billions of dollars.

The purpose of this position is to serve as a financial economist, planning and performing a wide range of government economic research and analysis. The incumbent duties to this position are as follows:
• Evaluates the fiscal impact of current and proposed legislation on state tax receipts
• Develops, maintains, and applies econometric models to forecast future state tax revenue
• Conducts research on tax policy issues

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for a Tax Analyst, you should document on your online application the following:

• Completion of graduate core program in economics, statistics, business administration or public administration
• 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in use of statistical software (e.g., SAS), query languages & data base analysis
• 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in tax law & government structure & process (e.g., laws, legal codes,
court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders & agency rules pertaining to taxation)
• 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in academic analytical research
OR
• Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will obtained a graduate level degree in economics, statistics, analytics, or related field.
