The University of Johannesburg invites applications for the position of Research Professor/Research Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer (Senior Researcher). This is a full-time academic research position. Generous research funding and support is available.

This senior position falls under the South African Research Chair in Industrial Development. This is a prestigious research center, falling under the College of Business and Economics. Our activities include free-standing and collaborative research projects; supervising graduate students; hosting postdocs and visiting researchers; policy engagement; and holding research events.

We welcome applicants with research specializations in fields including development economics, political economy, trade, innovation, economics of technology or industrial organisation. Expertise related to the field of industrial development (e.g. industrial policy, structural change, technology, innovation, industrialization, financialization, industry and climate change, etc.) would be a strong advantage.

Responsibilities:
• Undertake research and publish extensively, especially in high-impact journals.
• Initiating and managing research projects.
• Supervise postgraduate students, and possibly supervise or collaborate with postdoctoral fellows.
• Assist in overall management and contribute to the various activities of the center.
• Initiate, develop and/or be involved in research networks, collaborations, institutional partnerships, grant applications, and the organisation of research events.

There are no lecturing responsibilities associated with this position.
