The University of Otago Business School was judged #1 for research in New Zealand in the 2018 PBRF round. Per QS rankings, we also host New Zealand’s #1 MBA. The Department of Economics is a research-intensive department where teaching loads allow significant research time.

Applications are invited for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer full-time confirmation path (tenure-track) positions in the Department of Economics. We seek applicants with expertise in any field of Economics. Appointment will be at Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor in the North American system) or Senior Lecturer level dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience.

The successful applicant will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervise postgraduate research students at Master’s and PhD level. Candidates will be expected to develop independent and productive research.

Skills and experience:

• A PhD degree in Economics is essential.
• Proven record of publication in high-quality journals.
• Success in obtaining external research funding.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
