Candidates must have strong applied research and interpersonal skills. U.S. citizenship is required.

Economists in the Center have the flexibility to work with all of GAO’s public policy teams across all sectors of the economy and government. The Center seeks economists with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Financial Market and Community Investment (FMCI) team seeks data scientists with a strong background in statistics and/or economics, strong applied research and programming skills, and an ability to develop consensus across stakeholders from different professional disciplines. FMCI data scientists use data analysis, thought leadership, and problem solving skills to contribute their expertise across GAO’s financial market, insurance, and housing work, which covers areas from fair lending to bank stress tests, homelessness to housing finance.
