IMPAQ International, a rapidly growing and dynamic social policy research firm is seeking a full-time Research Associate/Economist to conduct applied research using advanced analytics. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment to develop and deploy quick turn-around analytics solutions. Our recent work include:

• Building, training, and rapid deployment of machine-learning and artificial intelligence (ML/AI) models for improving the operational timeliness, accuracy,
consistency, and integrity of federal and state programs;
• Developing mathematical, statistical, or simulation models to study complex systems and social policies through the introduction of stochastic processes; and
• Developing numerical and computational methods to solve applied and theoretical problems in the fields of system dynamics, agent-based modeling, text
analytics, and partial automation of complex human tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build predictive analytics models to support our research divisions;
• Design and implement ML/AI initiatives for advanced analysis, including constructing training data, building rapidly prototype, performing advanced model
design, test and validation for deployment in production or operational environments;
• Developing mathematical, numerical, statistical, and simulation tools for analysis, automation, and remote monitoring of complex systems;
• Processing large administrative data sets for research and application purposes;
• Writing technical reports and funding proposals and supporting business development by participating in business development and capture activities;
• Making presentations to the government clients; and
• Supervising and mentoring junior research staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in mathematics, probability, physics, statistics, systems biology, biostatistics, computational economics, computer science,
econometrics, or related fields;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical material orally and in writing to non-academic audiences;
• Demonstrated experience in an object-oriented coding language (such as Python, Java, or C++);
• Demonstrated ability to employ a diverse number of numerical methods, computational tools, computational environments, and mathematical methods; and
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand, internalize, and implement in a modern language the latest theoretical and applied methods from the fields of
mathematics, applied probability, statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or theoretical computational sciences.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in construction and use of distributed systems, use of APIs, and cloud computing;
• Expert-level experience building custom solutions using advanced analytics ML/AI;
• Multiple years of experience with Python, database query language (MS Access, SQL/NOSQL)
• Experience building solutions at enterprise scale on cloud platforms
