Professor Justine Hastings (Brown University) is looking to hire a full-time research assistant at the NBER. You will work with leading economics faculty, computer scientists, and data scientists as part of an interdisciplinary team using administrative data, economic models, causal models, and predictive models to develop new, innovative science for effective public policy approaches which solve complex social problems.
Prior research analysts have been placed in top PhD programs in Economics, Public Policy or quantitative social science fields, as well as top technology companies. You will work closely with senior economists and data scientists on innovative research projects, and develop skills in big-data research as you contribute to the research process from start to finish.

Qualifications:
● A bachelor’s degree and excellent grades from a top university in economics, applied math, statistics, or computer science, including some training econometrics and statistics.
● Strong analytic, quantitative, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team.
● Prior experience working with large data sets and excellent programming skills in Stata, Python, and/or R. Proficiency with SQL is a plus.
The duration of this term is nine months, with annual reappointment depending on continued grant support.
