The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at NC State University seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor and Outreach Specialist of Microeconomics position with a focal area in labor economics. This 9-month faculty appointment is split 80% Extension/Outreach and 20% Research.

We seek an individual to develop an outstanding outreach and research program related to the economics of labor with emphasis on agricultural labor. Potential specialty areas may include, but are not limited to, wages, immigration regulations, labor supply, labor demand, labor mobility, compliance with labor market regulations, and establishing best practices to training, managing, and retaining agricultural labor. This labor economist is expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized extension and research program to inform lawmakers, policymakers, farmers, and the industry on agricultural labor issues in order to maintain the vitality of the agricultural economy. The successful candidate for this Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist position will have PhD in Microeconomics or related field; will develop an outstanding record of scholarly research in academic journals, which will also include participation in interdisciplinary research and in extramural-funded research projects; will develop a strong outreach program with agricultural labor stakeholders; and will mentor graduate students.
