Professor in Economic Theory – Calling for Expressions of Interest
The Department of Economics, an established team of 33 full-time permanent academics and five part-time professorial fellows, is ranked in top 150 in the world according to the QS rankings (2019). We have particular strengths in Economic Theory, Applied Economics, and Econometrics, and have recently been rated “above the world standard” by the Australian Federal Government. The Department runs a PhD program with significant coursework component, hosts several workshops and conferences every year, and enjoys a vibrant and stimulative research environment.
An exciting opportunity now exists for a world-leading scholar to join the Department as a Professor in Microeconomic Theory, where, as the successful candidate you will undertake outstanding research, deliver excellent teaching, and provide leadership to junior academics and PhD students.
This is a full-time, continuing position to be based in Melbourne, which is the cultural capital of Australia and is world renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, world scale events and festivities, fantastic restaurants, parks and sports clubs, as well as its close proximity to beautiful landscapes and countryside.
Deakin offers an internationally competitive compensation package and employer contributions to retirement savings, as well as attractive teaching load.
We also offer a generous relocation package that comprises assistance with housing search and children’s schooling search before the appointee arrives.
Review of the Expressions of Interest will start immediately and will be conducted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Suitable candidates will be flown to Melbourne for a campus visit. The start date is flexible, but 1 March 2020 would be the target date.
