The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Government and Finance Division seeks an Analyst in Financial Economics to join its Banking, Insurance, Securities, and Macroeconomic Policy Section. The analyst will serve Congress by providing in-depth research and analysis on policy issues pertinent to U.S. financial markets, financial regulation, and the U.S. economy, and may support research analyses undertaken throughout CRS.

The candidate will have experience that blends detailed knowledge of financial economics, U.S. financial markets, and financial regulation with an understanding of public policy. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to link knowledge of these principles and policies with each step of the legislative process. Strong writing, research, data analysis, presentation skills, and the ability to work on a collaborative team are essential. Candidates with experience explaining principles, practices, and legislative options related to policy issues pertinent to U.S. financial markets, financial regulation, or the U.S. economy in terms that resonate with audiences without their level of expertise and/or providing sophisticated economic analysis to congressional staff and Members are encouraged to apply. The candidate will possess expertise in housing finance, financial regulation, and/or macroeconomic policy.
