Head and Professor of Economics
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School is seeking a senior academic for the post of Head and Professor of Economics at the rank of Full Professor.
Founded in 1991, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a world renowned English-language international research university in Asia’s most vibrant city. The Department of Economics at HKUST aims to continue as a leading intellectual center for all major fields of economics research. The Department of Economics has a group of productive research faculty, who regularly published in premier economics journals. The department offers high quality programs to undergraduate and MSc economics students in addition to contributing to business and public policy education at the graduate and undergraduate level. The department has an active PhD program producing researchers in economics. The department has been ranked No. 24 and No. 28 by the QS World University Rankings for Economics and Econometrics in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Reporting to the Dean of Business and Management, the Head and Professor of Economics is expected to provide leadership and manage the Department in its diverse academic and administrative functions. Applications/nominations for the position are invited from well-qualified and accomplished scholars. A qualified candidate is expected to have an outstanding academic record in a major field of Economics, international research reputation, and some relevant administrative experience. Proven capacity to interact effectively with government, industry and commercial sectors is an advantage.
Terms & Applications/Nominations:
The appointment will be concurrent with a substantive professorial appointment. Upon completion of the headship term, the appointee is expected to continue to commit to the long term development of the department.
