Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Human Sciences at The Ohio State University is seeking a two-year postdoctoral researcher to conduct empirical, policy-relevant research investigating two lines of inquiry in the areas of regional economics, health economics, and social policy. First, the researcher will be responsible for conducting quantitative research investigating the relationship between local economic and demographic factors and drug overdose deaths in the United States. The second line of inquiry seeks to understand the impacts of shale oil and gas development on a broad range of economic and social community outcomes. The successful applicant should have strong quantitative, writing, and programming skills and experience working with aggregate county-level data to examine research questions that inform public policy. Experienced Stata user is preferred.
The researcher will be part of two project teams that afford them access to restricted CDC mortality data, restricted US Census American Community Survey data located at the Kentucky Research Data Center, and detailed proprietary industry employment data. The aim of the projects is to publish high quality research in academic journals such as the Journal of Regional Science, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Energy Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Demography, and others.
