The Office of Policy and Research (OPR) is the research arm for the Assistant Secretary for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), who is responsible for overseeing private benefit plans holding about $10 trillion in assets. Economists in OPR advance EBSA's mission by participating in the development and promulgation of all EBSA rules, assessing rules' economic impacts pursuant to applicable Office of Management and Budget and Congressional mandates, and conducting economic research to expand economic knowledge of employee benefits issues. They also provide statistical and data-analytical program support to other EBSA offices.

OPR has multiple vacancies for research economists. Applicants should have a strong background in
- applied microeconomics,
- financial economics, or
- health economics.
