The JPMorgan Chase Institute seeks a research associate to work with the Financial Markets team on housing finance research. The ideal candidate will have experience with empirical data analysis; a strong background in economics and social sciences; be knowledgeable about the current economic policy debate, and general economic trends; and have an entrepreneurial and proactive mindset.

Job Responsibilities

•Conduct original research and literature reviews to support the Institute’s ongoing housing finance research agenda and articulate the value-add to topical debate

•Attend, participate, and present synthesized research findings at weekly problem solving sessions

•Pull and analyze relevant third-party datasets to support ongoing research initiatives

•Identify promising potential topics for the Institute’s research agenda

•Explore and enhance data visualization tools to effectively convey research finding

Candidate Qualifications

•Bachelor’s required; Master’s candidates welcome;

•1-2 years of work experience preferred

•Strong programming experience; preferred languages include SQL, R, Python, Scala

•Experience with big data computing on a Hadoop platform (e.g. Spark, Hive) and working with big data collaboration tools (git, Jira) are a plus

•Strong background in statistics/economics/econometrics/public policy/data science, or other related fields

•Experience conducting original applied empirical research
