The Urban Institute’s Housing Finance Policy Center is seeking an experienced researcher to conceive new research ideas and work collaboratively on a variety of housing finance research projects. Projects include the conceptualization of research design and methodologies, report writing, communicating compelling ideas and contributing to proposal development and funder outreach to support larger scale research initiatives. Specific responsibilities include: Overseeing the monthly chartbook and monthly report produced for Ginnie Mae, gathering and visualizing relevant data from publicly available or internal sources, leading projects and collaborating with other senior staff, authoring blog posts, briefs and other publications with original quantitative or qualitative analyses related to housing and housing finance policy issues and trends, communicating and presenting key research findings and reports to expert and general audiences. The successful candidate will possess a graduate degree in a social science field (Economics, Public Policy or Real Estate preferred), prior experience working with various big data sources including common governmental data such as AHS, Census, BLS, ACS, HMDA and private data sources is highly preferred, strong quantitative background and experience with SAS or STATA and significant experience with data visualization, MS Office. Experience with R, Python for statistical analysis and data mining preferred
