The Program in Corporate Welfare Studies at the University of California Irvine is seeking one or two Postdoctoral Scholars. A Scholar would conduct his or her own research on corporate welfare, broadly defined as the causes and consequences of governmental policies that affect particular firms. The Scholar would also participate in related workshops, and would assist selected students in their research.
Examples of related research supported by the Program include how regulations on airline pilot hours affect airline behavior, how the bailouts of banks deemed too large to fail affect different firms, and the effects of tax incentives on firms’ location decisions. The researcher would spend most of the time conducting his or her own research.
Funding is available for conference presentations. Ph.D. students and undergraduates may be available to support the research.
The initial full-time position will be for one year. The annual pay is $60,000, plus benefits.

Qualifications:
A successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Economics by the start of the appointment. Background in Industrial Organization, Political Economics, and Econometrics. Knowledge of U.S. political institutions, and U.S. data. Ability to work as part of a team.
