The School of Economics at Georgia Tech seeks to hire a Research Scientist that will serve as the Associate Director for the Health Economics and Analytics Lab (HEAL). The HEAL performs research on how evolving health care delivery and payment models affect patients, providers, and payers – with a specific focus on the economics of medical imaging. The HEAL is funded under a 5-year grant that also provides access to a substantial collection of health and large-scale medical claims databases for academic research.
In addition to performing independent research, successful candidates will mentor and train graduate research assistants and post-docs; support affiliated Georgia Tech faculty and external researchers; identify and pursue relevant grant opportunities; and take ownership of key administrative functions as assigned by the Director. Teaching opportunities in the School of Economics may also be available.
Georgia Tech is a Research I institution, ranked 8th nationally among public universities, and offers significant opportunities for collaborative research and teaching across complementary disciplines such as computing, industrial and systems engineering, electrical and environmental engineering, international affairs, public policy, urban planning and management.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in economics, health services research, or related field (ABD applicants will be considered) and experience with large scale or complex data. All applications must be submitted through the American Economic Association’s Job Openings for Economists website (https://www.aeaweb.org/joe/). At the time of offer, a background check will be required.
The Associate Director is a full-time, 12-month, and sponsored research funded position. The position is expected to be renewed annually, subject to funding and satisfactory performance. Candidates will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Georgia Tech is an equal education/employment opportunity institution dedicated to building a diverse community. We strongly encourage applications from women, underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans.
