The Free Market Institute at Texas Tech University seeks to hire one post-doctoral research associate for a two-year term beginning September 1, 2019. The post-doctoral research associate will work on the 'Austrian Economics in the 21st Century' research program funded by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. This program investigates the relevance of insights from Austrian economics for contemporary social science. The Institute welcomes applicants, who have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in economics, political science, philosophy, or related fields. The Institute will also consider applications from exceptional A.B.D. candidates.
In addition to conducting research related to the broad program theme, the post-doctoral research associate will be expected to assist in the organization and execution of a research colloquium (also funded through the grant) on a topic such as political and economic inequality, contemporary social scientific methods, behavioral economics, economic sociology, or economic history. Candidates should specifically address what topics they are most interested in and what scholars they would consider inviting to such a colloquium. Some familiarity with key ides from Austrian economics, criticisms of Austrian ideas, and detailed knowledge of the relevant literature(s) for the colloquium are all desirable.
