The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a U.S. Government corporation and leading development institution based on Washington, DC, seeks full time Economist(s)/Lead Economist(s).

MCC’s mission is to foster economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries selected for their demonstrated commitment to just and democratic governance, economic freedom, and investments in their citizenry.
Successful candidate(s) joining MCC’s Economic Analysis Division will conduct evidence-based analysis of the economic impacts of MCC interventions; identify and analyze sector governance and related issues as they affect key economic outcomes; quantify the distribution of program impacts; support monitoring and evaluation of MCC programs, and make recommendations on investments and reforms to stimulate economic growth and poverty reduction. In carrying out these duties, economist/lead economist(s) will identify data needs and the appropriate method of analysis, designs surveys or other data collection as needed, particulate in the design of country programs on country teams, and communicate effectively with these teams, consultants, stakeholders, and counterparts. They will also contribute to methodological advances and process improvements for the Division and the agency. Candidates who wish to build or maintain a reputation in academic circles would be encouraged to publish in peer-reviewed journals and speak at academic conferences.

Qualifications include an advanced degree in Economics, Public Policy, or International Development (PhD preferred) and at least 2 years’ experience in analyzing economic issues related to growth or poverty reduction.
