The US economist position works directly with the US research team, based in Washington DC, with the following responsibilities:
• Support the surveillance of economic, policy and political developments that affect financial markets.
• Aid in monitoring any relevant analysis, research, and commentary from a wide variety of sources in an efficient and comprehensive manner.
• Track trends and provide time-sensitive analysis on developments that may affect medium-to-longer term policy outcomes.
• Support high-frequency forecasting infrastructure.
• Provide unique perspectives, backed by rigorous analysis, on market-relevant events.

Requirements for the position include:
• A proactive approach driven by intense curiosity, logical reasoning and an ability to filter signals from noise.
• Ability to flexibly move between monitoring and surveillance of market events, and generation of in-depth analysis and modelling on a variety of market-relevant topics.
• A rigorous analytic approach, with strong quantitative skills grounded in econometrics, statistics, and probability theory.
• Proficiency with software packages, such as Matlab, Eviews, Stata, etc.
• Knowledge of and experience working with US macroeconomic data.
• Experience in a similar capacity preferred, but not necessary.
• An ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ph.D. in economics required with a record exhibiting superior academic/professional achievement.
