The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science and the NYU Center for Data Science invite applications for one junior tenure track position (“Assistant Professor of Economics and Data Science”) to begin September 1, 2019, subject to administrative and budgetary approval.   

This position is a joint appointment between the Department of Economics and the Center for Data Science, distinct from other junior tenure track positions at the Department of Economics. The successful candidate will be a faculty member in both units, with teaching, service, and other professional duties split between them.  

Candidates must have outstanding research records, including a proven research record in data science with applications to economics. Examples of data science research areas could include ​inter alia supervised and unsupervised learning, “big data”, natural language processing, computer vision, neural networks and non-convex optimization. Responsibilities of the position include instruction of undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the Department of Economics and Center for Data Science.
