The Director, Office of Macroeconomic Analysis is a principal advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Macroeconomic Policy and the Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy on macroeconomic issues bearing on U.S. economic performance and the well-being of Americans.

This position oversees wide variety of highly sophisticated economic policy studies relating to the formulation and execution of domestic economic policies. Particular attention on short- and long-term macroeconomic analysis, and on evaluating macro policy options related to the Social Security and Medicare programs. This position requires performing highly specialized studies of current economic performance and prospects, including analysis of a wide range of real and financial variables; using economic models to analyze macroeconomic policy issues of concern to the Department including participating in forecasting exercises of the "Troika" group in support of Federal budget estimates; simulating the effects of various policy scenarios on the Social Security and Medicare programs; supervising a yield curve project including production of yield curve data for the public computed from market source data using custom software, further development of the yield curves, and documentation of the curves. The results of these analyses and evaluations will be used as major inputs for developing Treasury and Administration policy positions.
