The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a distinguished academic to lead the School of Economics in conducting world-class research across all major fields of economics. The appointee will have a substantial record of high-quality research and demonstrated expertise in teaching, learning and administrative leadership.

The Head of School provides leadership and support for teaching and research activities and is responsible for the School’s general management. As a member of the senior management team, the Head of School contributes to the overall Faculty strategy, with responsibility for setting, communicating and achieving Faculty academic and operational goals and strategies at the School level. Crucially, the appointee will help entrench the ambitious research and teaching standards necessary for appointment, confirmation (tenure) and promotion of academic staff, consistence with world-class performance.

The appointment will be for 5 years with the opportunity for renewal. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package.
