Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics seeks to fill an open rank (tenure-track or tenured) position in agricultural economics and/or environmental and resource economics. The successful applicant’s innovative research program will address key issues in agricultural economics and/or environmental and resource economics, with emphasis on problems important to Iowa State’s mission as a land-grant university. Possible areas of interest in agricultural economics include, but are not limited to: commodity markets, risk management, food supply chains, contracting, vertical integration, and impacts of new technologies. Possible areas of interest in environmental and resource economics include, but are not limited to: environmental aspects of agricultural production, intertemporal models and dynamic resource management, global climate change, and sustainability. The successful candidate will be expected to publish regularly in top scholarly outlets, provide high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate student research, and seek external grant and contract funding.

The Department of Economics, with approximately 40 tenured or tenure-track faculty, has a long tradition of excellence in education, research, and engagement with the community. Our undergraduate program is the academic home to over 600 students in three different majors. Our graduate program offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics and agricultural economics, and places graduates in vital positions in academia, government, and industry throughout the world. Faculty research covers a broad spectrum ranging from theoretical analyses to applied policy studies, and increasingly including multidisciplinary work conducted in collaboration with experts in many other fields.

Required Education and Experience:

PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or related field

Associate or Full Professor candidates, in addition to the above, will have demonstrated research accomplishments and the potential for continuing excellence in both research and teaching commensurate with the level of the rank granted
