The Department of Economics at Iowa State University invites applications for the position of Director for the Center of Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) at the rank of tenured associate or full professor.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide 1) leadership to CARD in conducting timely, objective, and rigorous economic analysis of policy issues related to agriculture, food, and the environment; 2) seek research grants and contracts to support these efforts; 3) direct the CARD staff, supervise graduate students, and involve other faculty and scientists in CARD research projects; 4) disseminate research results through top economics journals and policy implications through professional publications and conferences; 5) develop strong outreach program to engage with the public and policy makers in the interpretation of CARD research findings; 6) contribute to the teaching mission of the Department of Economics through graduate student supervision, classroom teaching or other relevant activities; and 7) actively contribute to achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion.

PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or related field, demonstrated familiarity with external grant and contract opportunities, a national and international scholarly reputation and a record of research publication commensurate with appointment as tenured (associate or full) professor in the Department of Economics at ISU, required.

Experience coordinating research programs, experience interacting effectively with the public on policy issues, demonstrated success in attracting competitive federal funding, familiarity with non-federal grant and contract funding sources, experience with college teaching, demonstrated success supervising staff and mentoring students, experience in budget management, preferred.
