The Department of Economics at the College of Wooster invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2019. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. completed (or completion anticipated) in Economics or a closely held discipline. Interdisciplinary candidates are also encouraged to apply.

The research and/or teaching experience of the successful candidate must be related to the field of Public Economics with potential complementary interests in either Demographic Economics, Health, Education, Welfare, Well-being, Inequality, or Poverty. In addition to offering elective courses related to the hire’s field of expertise, teaching responsibilities also include periodic contributions to ‘core’ departmental courses such as Principles of Economics and Quantitative Methods, and the College’s interdepartmental seminar course for first-semester students.

The teaching load for full-time faculty is 5.5 credits per academic year including advising individual undergraduate research projects. Both the Department of Economics and the College provide excellent support for research and scholarship.

To be given full consideration for the post, applicants must submit a cover-letter, CV, Job-Market Paper, teaching statement, research statement, evidence of teaching effectiveness, diversity statement, and three letters of recommendation by November 30, 2018. The diversity statement should detail how the applicant expects to engage with issues of diversity in the classroom and the curriculum, as well as on campus and in the broader community. The Department of Economics values and appreciates methodological diversity within Economics and across the social sciences. In your cover letter, we ask you to comment on how you might contribute to our culture of pluralistic open inquiry.

Department representatives will be interviewing prospective candidates at the ASSA meetings in Atlanta, GA on January 4-6, 2019.
