The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks an experienced leader to fill the role of Transportation Economist. (#18DOT-HQ-00135)

WSDOT is responsible for ensuring that people and goods move safely and efficiently. WSDOT relies on expert economic forecasters to research, analyze and predict future fuel consumption and revenue trends. We hire expert economists with knowledge of econometric forecasting, economic impact modeling and other economic analysis. We are currently seeking a Transportation Economist to serve as a lead in forecasting motor vehicle fuel consumption, tax revenue and economic indicators, including fuel prices. This position requires an economist with skills in econometric modeling and economic impact analysis. Econometric modeling is the primary focus but performing economic impact analysis of transportation investments will also be part of this position's work. This position requires skill in economic analysis but also communicating the results to non-technical audiences.

Candidate Qualifications:
* Master’s degree in economics or coursework in a Ph.D. program in economics or a related field. This will substitute for 1 year of required experience.
* Four years of experience in private consulting, government, or academic research involving economic impact analysis and forecasting
