Description:
The Department of Economics at the University of Houston invites applications for a promotion eligible, non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor position starting in Fall 2018. Our department is made up of an innovative group of scholars who are dedicated to producing top-flight research while training our students in the latest techniques in economic analysis. Our department offers BA, BS and PhD degrees in Economics, and MA degrees in Applied Economics with about 600 undergraduate majors. The primary responsibilities for this Instructional Assistant Professor will be in teaching. The teaching load will be 6 courses per academic year, typically 3 courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. The courses will be in the areas of microeconomics and data analysis at the undergraduate and Master’s levels. Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching courses with strong writing, research or quantitative analysis components are preferred.

In addition to the teaching responsibilities, this Instructional Assistant Professor is expected to lead the department’s undergraduate career counseling services. This includes advising and providing career information to students, establishing community partners, organizing career events, and coordinating with university career services.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Economics by completed by August 2018 is required.
