Full Text of JOE Listing:

EPA’s National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE) is looking to hire a computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeler as a visiting research scholar or a postdoc research fellow for one-year. The selected PhD (must graduate by August 2018) candidate or visiting scholar would have an opportunity to work closely with NCEE economists on policy-relevant research.

NCEE's mission is to advance the theory and practice of economics and risk analysis within EPA (www.epa.gov/aboutepa/about-office-policy-op#NCEE). NCEE is a center of expertise for cutting-edge policy analysis and research in environmental economics (www.epa.gov/economics).

The central focus of this research position is on developing new techniques and tools to incorporate the benefits and costs of environmental regulations in computable general equilibrium models. Introducing complex non-price based policies into CGE models represents a challenge not yet robustly addressed by the economic literature. Similarly, there are serious technical challenges to consider when evaluating the benefits of environmental regulations in an economy wide framework given how they propagate through the economy. May involve development of and analysis with CGE models and/or econometric analysis to inform the calibration of CGE models.

Contact NCEE@epa.gov for more specific information on how to apply, eligibility, contact information, etc. U.S. citizenship or LPR status required.
