Full Text of JOE Listing:
We are searching for a bright creative post-doctoral scholar with interests in natural resource and development economics. Preference will be given to candidates with strong training in applied microeconomics and an interest in experimental methods. Responsibilities include 1) engaging in high quality research that informs public policy in resource-rich economies and that leads to publications in top journals, 2) working collaboratively on research projects with members of the Department of Economics, and 3) teaching one principles of economics course per semester.
Salary will be $70,000 per year. The successful candidate will also receive a generous benefits package, relocation funds, and a $7500 annual research/travel budget. The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop a strong record of research excellence in natural resource and development economics.
2. Work collaboratively with faculty of the Department of Economics and Public Policy.
3. Teach one principles of economics course per semester.
Qualifications (Required):
1. Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field, earned in the last three years from the date of appointment.
2. Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills.
3. Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively.
4. Effective communication skills.
Qualifications (Preferred):
1. Stata, MATLAB, ArcGIS.
2. Experience with experimental design.
3. Strong economic modeling skills.

UAA’s College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) is a dynamic academic resource that serves and reflects Anchorage, Alaska’s largest metropolitan community. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the College has an impressive faculty who bring a wide range of academic and industry expertise to students and community partners. CBPP students represent all age groups, ethnicities and backgrounds. Students have a variety of areas from which to choose with Baccalaureate degree majors in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Global Logistics, Management (Property Management and Real Estate concentration option), Management Information Systems, or Marketing.
The Economics Department hosts the Vernon Smith Economic Science Laboratory and an experimental economics research program. It has also has special expertise in behavioral economics and resource economics. It is home to the Rasmuson Chair in Economics, the only fully-funded privately-endowed scholarly chair at the University of Alaska, which brings leading economics scholars to be in residence at UAA for terms up to a year.
