The research department of Norges Bank, the central bank of Norway has an opening for a research economist (postdoctoral). The contract has a three-year duration, after which it is possible to apply for open permanent positions at the bank. Candidates should have obtained or be about to obtain their PhD in economics or finance, preferably with a specialization in a topic related to financial stability, monetary economics or other areas in macroeconomics or financial economics of interest for central banks. Experienced economists interested in a multi-year secondment can also apply. The working language is English. Proficiency in a Scandinavian language is useful but not required.

The research department works on issues of relevance for monetary policy, financial stability and financial markets. Research economists spend half their time conducting high-quality research that addresses issues of interest to central banks aimed at being published in international peer-reviewed journals. In the other half they provide research-based analyses to policy departments on issues related to monetary policy, financial stability, macroprudential policy and financial markets. Research economists disseminate relevant internal and external research to the bank’s staff and liaison with academic and research institutions.
