Full Text of JOE Listing:

We are currently appointing faculty to teach undergraduate courses in the social sciences beginning in the 2018-2019 academic year. We welcome applications from people at all career stages (e.g., Assistant, Associate and full Professor levels). Our courses are broad, and we are especially interested in applicants with degrees in economics who could teach a number of different classes.

The Minerva Schools prepare students to become innovators and global leaders in a wide variety of disciplines. Our aim is to reinvent higher education at every level, from how we define the curriculum to how we teach. All Minerva classes are seminars, not lecture courses, and use active learning (facilitated by technology) to help students learn to think critically and creatively as well as to communicate and interact effectively with others. We teach using the Minerva Active Learning Forum, a web-based platform that supports real-time, synchronous seminars (ranging from 15-19 students) with high levels of student-faculty interaction. Students live together in residence halls, traveling to 7 different cities over their four undergraduate years of study.

You are a good fit for a Minerva faculty position if you are eager to join one of the most innovative institutions in higher education today. As a student-centric program, we focus on learning outcomes, small interactive class sessions, and deep engagement between faculty and students, with feedback given in both directions. Teaching is very collaborative, both in developing courses and working together to teach courses.

Because all classes are taught on our technology platform, you have complete flexibility to teach at Minerva via computer from any geographic location where there are good internet connections.

Please see our website for more information about Minerva’s course offerings in Social Sciences.

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in relevant discipline (e.g., economics). ABD applicants accepted if degree will be complete by August 1, 2018.
- Documented teaching experience
- Comfort with new technology
- Passion for undergraduate teaching
- Willing to embrace innovative pedagogical approaches based on the science of learning

Application Instructions:
- Candidates should submit the following:
- A Cover Letter explaining:
- Why you believe you would be a good fit to teach at Minerva, including any Minerva courses you feel you are best able to teach.
- Your interest in a full or part time appointment.
- The names of, and contact information for, three people who will write a letter of recommendation; we are particularly interested in people who can attest to the quality of your teaching, your general quality of mind, and your openness to new pedagogical approaches.
- A current curriculum vitae.

We plan to begin interviews via Skype in January, so please submit materials before December 20 to ensure their consideration. Positions will remain open until filled.
