Play a critical role in establishing conditions for competitive outcomes from the electricity and natural gas markets within Alberta’s market structure. Your expertise in energy economics will be essential in order to carry out your statutory responsibility in maintaining fair, efficient and openly competitive operations in the electricity and gas markets. You will lead a team of professionals delivering balanced and effective surveillance, investigation, and enforcement processes, including the presentation of cases to the Alberta Utilities Commission for adjudication. Your capacity to assess highly complex technical, market and legal issues as well as build and maintain relationships with diverse business, government and industry stakeholders will be the key to your success in this role.

Ideally, your background includes extensive related senior leadership experience in the energy or utility sector, with an understanding of electricity and natural gas markets. You have a sound knowledge of energy economic theory, competitive behaviour, and related regulatory and quasi-judicial processes. You are known for your superior communication, mediation, and public presentation skills and have a track record of exercising sound and consistent judgment. A degree in a related discipline is required, preferably economics, engineering, business or law.
