The Department of Economics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a position at all tenure-track and tenured ranks (Assistant/Associate/Professor) in the field of Regulation Economics, though priority will be given to applications at the junior rank. The Department has been growing and will continue to hire several positions over the next few years. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across the university on the Intelligent Infrastructure for Human-Centered Communities Destination Area (http://provost.vt.edu/destination-areas.html). This Destination Area focuses on the interdependencies between humans, community, and infrastructure with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life around the globe. We seek scholars who are committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. Preference will be given to candidates with strong empirical skills and interests in areas relating to technology, infrastructure and transportation.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (in economics or a related discipline, foreign equivalent accepted) in hand or firmly expected by August 2018. Candidates at the Associate or Full rank must demonstrate significant scholarship and teaching ability while candidates at the Assistant Professor level should show promise of significant scholarship and teaching ability. A completed application must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, teaching related information and a copy of publications or working papers. Candidates at the Full and Associate rank should also provide a research statement. All applicants must provide names of three referees.
