The University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics in the field of Macroeconomics; position number 84556, Department of Economics, College of Social Sciences, UHM, permanent, tenure track, full-time, 9-month, to begin August 1, 2018, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses including Principles of Economics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, International Macroeconomics, and/or Monetary Theory. Supervise and mentor MA and PhD students, publish scholarly, peer-reviewed research in areas of expertise; seek extramural funding in areas of expertise; provide service to department, university and community. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:
1. PhD in Economics or a related field from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent. ABDs will be considered but all degree requirements must be completed prior to date of hire. ABDs must also submit a letter from their committee chair attesting that dissertation and all degree requirements will be completed prior to date of hire.
2. A record of research achievement (publications, grants) commensurate with time in field.
3. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in macroeconomics, and mentor and advise students in the applicant’s area of expertise.

Desirable qualifications: Although the area of expertise is open, we are especially interested in applicants who have demonstrated a record of research in constructing and calibrating large scale macroeconomic models with the aim of shedding light on pressing policy questions. Given the multicultural and diverse context of UHM, we also seek candidates with a demonstrated interest or the potential to contribute to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

Pay range: Commensurate with training and experience.
