The Nature Conservancy seeks a Behavioral/Applied Economist to join its team of economists in the Office of the Chief Scientist. The position is open to candidates with research experience in topics such as behavioral economics, program evaluation, causal experiments and applied econometrics, including spatial econometrics. The candidate would be expected to examine and evaluate the effectiveness of different policy instruments, market-based approaches and behavioral strategies used in environmental programs and publish in peer-reviewed journals. S/he would work with the Lead Economist to design research studies, undertake literature reviews/meta analyses and collect and analyze data. S/he would work both independently and collaboratively with scientists within and outside the Conservancy. The position is intended for researchers with less than five years of post-Ph.D. experience.

Founded in 1951, the Nature Conservancy is the world’s largest private environmental organization, with offices across the United States and in over 60 countries. Researchers in the Office of the Chief Scientist examine linked social and environmental systems and test the effectiveness of environmental programs to prioritize conservation actions.
