The Political Economy Research Institute at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for the position of Director. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position at the Associate or Professor rank. Tenure upon appointment possible. The position begins as early as November 1, 2017. Established in late 2016, the Political Economy Research Institute is a joint venture between the Jennings A. Jones College of Business (www.mtsu.edu/business) and the University Honors College (www.mtsu.edu/honors). The mission of the institute is to engage undergraduate and graduate students with faculty in research that will further the understanding of free market business and economic principles, as well as their impact on regional, national, and international financial conditions and the well-being of society. The Director’s position will be the first hired for the new institute. The primary area of research/teaching interest desired for the Director is economics, with particular emphasis on public choice theory.

The Institute will be housed in the Department of Economics and Finance in the Jones College. The department offers BBA degrees in economics and finance, an MA in Economics, an MS in Finance, and a PhD in Economics. The department also provides support for the MBA program.
