New College of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor focusing on Migration Studies. This position is open with regard to field of Ph.D, and the appointment will be in that field with the opportunity of a joint appointment in another field or interdisciplinary program. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, teaching experience, a career interest in liberal arts education, and a vibrant research agenda. The person filling this line will be expected to teach courses on migration and build interdisciplinary initiatives related to this subject, as well as contribute to the curriculum in the field of appointment. Experience using and guiding students in developing GIS research skills is highly valued. The candidate must have completed the Ph.D. by start of employment in August 2018.

New College is a nationally recognized, highly selective public honors college with an 11:1 student/faculty ratio. We are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. Faculty members also provide academic advising, supervise independent study projects, and sponsor senior theses. Professors are expected to maintain a program of research.
