Seeking an outstanding and innovative scientist for a 9-month tenure-system position (assistant professor rank) in Forest Resource Economics to identify/address issues related to economic aspects of managing forest ecosystems and contribute to the areas of forest economics and management through research on the application of economic principles and approaches to problems of sustainable management of forest resources. Possible areas of expertise include economic analysis of: forest management/silvicultural practices; wood products/forest carbon markets; ecosystem services/non-timber forest products; forest property taxation/estate planning; and management of/for fire and other natural processes.

Expectations: Develop an internationally-recognized research program by securing competitive external funding, publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals, and advancing our understanding of economic aspects of the management of forested ecosystems; annually teach an undergraduate course in Forest Resource Economics and Management and a graduate course that contributes to our learning objectives. Extension responsibilities could include stakeholder-engaged research and developing forest economics programs for public/private forest stakeholders. Responsibilities also include recruiting/training graduate students, undergraduate mentoring, and Department/College/University/professional service.

Required: Earned Ph.D. in Forest Economics/related field; demonstrated ability for scholarly activities including peer-reviewed journal articles and successful grant applications; and demonstrated interest in teaching, outreach/extension, and working with under-represented groups.
